What this covers
This policy explains what easydictation.app collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. Effective from September 1, 2026. Questions go to [email protected].
What we collect
From your account. When you sign in with Google we receive your email address and display name. We never receive your Google password.
From your practice. The sentences you type, your accuracy, which videos you opened, how long you practised, the words you save, and your settings — including which interface language you use. This is the part that makes the Service useful across devices, so it is stored against your account.
Technical. Standard server and CDN logs: IP address, browser, and which pages were requested. We use these to keep the Service up and to spot abuse.
Payment. If you buy PRO, we store which plan you have and when it ends. We do not store card numbers — the payment providers handle those.
Why we use it
- To run the Service: process videos, save progress, sync it between your devices.
- To bill you, and to tell you when a plan is about to expire.
- To answer support requests.
- To understand which features get used, in aggregate, so we know what to build.
- To detect abuse and enforce plan limits.
Automated processing
To turn a video into practice material, its audio is sent to a speech-to-text provider and the resulting text to a translation model. This is the core of the Service and cannot be switched off while using it.
Your typing is not sent to those models. Comparing what you typed against the transcript happens in your browser.
Who else touches your data
We use these providers to run the Service. Each only receives what it needs.
- Clerk — accounts and sign-in.
- Groq and OpenAI — speech-to-text, translation, and difficulty grading of video audio.
- Lemon Squeezy — card payments, as merchant of record.
- SePay — Vietnamese bank-transfer payments.
- Resend — transactional email.
- Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, and abuse protection.
- Oracle Cloud — the servers and database that hold your account and progress.
- YouTube / Google — video playback happens in YouTube’s own player, subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Where it is stored, and for how long
Data is stored on servers in Singapore, with backups held in object storage. Some of the providers above operate in other countries, so your data crosses borders when it reaches them.
We keep your account data for as long as the account exists. Delete the account and the account record, progress, and saved words are removed; backups age out within 30 days. Processed transcripts of public videos are kept as shared material and are not linked to you after deletion. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Cookies and browser storage
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your interface language. We also use your browser’s local storage to hold practice progress — including progress made before you sign in, which lives only in that browser.
We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your rights
- See it. Ask us what we hold about you.
- Correct it. Fix your name, email, or settings from your account page.
- Delete it. Delete your account from account settings, at any time, without asking us.
- Take it with you. Ask for an export of your progress and saved words.
For anything not doable from the account page, write to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, write to [email protected] and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will notify signed-in users at least 15 days before it takes effect.
