Terms of Service

The rules for using EasyDictation — what you can do, what we owe you, and what happens when either side gets it wrong. Effective September 1, 2026.

This agreement

EasyDictation (“the Service”) is a listening-and-typing practice tool at easydictation.app. It takes a video you choose, turns its speech into sentences, and lets you type what you hear so the Service can tell you what you got right.

By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service. Effective from September 1, 2026.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account through our authentication provider, Clerk. We never see or store your Google password.

  • An account is for one person. Do not share logins.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by someone you gave access to.
  • You must be old enough to hold a Google account in your country. The Service is not built for children.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion is permanent.

How you may use it

Use the Service to practise a language. Do not use it to do any of the following.

  • Break the law, or infringe someone else’s rights.
  • Submit videos you have no right to use, or use the Service to redistribute someone else’s content.
  • Scrape, resell, or bulk-export transcripts, translations, or any other output.
  • Attack, overload, or probe the Service, or work around usage limits — including by automating requests or holding several free accounts.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, hateful, or sexual material involving minors.

Videos, transcripts, and who owns what

The Service works on videos hosted by third parties, mainly YouTube. Those videos belong to the people who made them, and playback happens through YouTube’s own player under YouTube’s Terms of Service. We do not sell, host, or claim any right over that content.

Transcripts, translations, and difficulty levels are produced automatically by machine learning models. They will contain mistakes. Do not rely on them for anything where being wrong matters — translation of legal, medical, or safety information included.

What you type stays yours. Your notes, saved words, and progress belong to you; we store and process them only to run the Service for you.

If you believe something on the Service infringes your copyright, write to [email protected] with enough detail to identify the material, and we will look into it.

Free and PRO

The free plan processes the first minute of a video and allows a limited number of videos per day. PRO raises those limits. Current limits are shown on the pricing page, and they can change as the cost of running the Service changes.

Processing a video costs us real money in speech-to-text and translation calls, so the limits are enforced per account, not per browser. Creating extra free accounts to get past them is a breach of these terms.

Payment and renewal

PRO is sold two ways: by card through Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchant of record, and by Vietnamese bank transfer through SePay. We do not receive or store your card number.

  • Card subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time; you keep PRO until the period you already paid for ends.
  • Bank-transfer plans do not auto-renew. They simply expire, and we email you before they do.
  • Prices are shown before you pay. Taxes may be added by the payment provider depending on where you are.

Refunds. If the Service failed to do what it promised, write to [email protected] within 14 days of the charge and we will refund it. We may decline refunds where the plan was substantially used, or where the account broke these terms.

Availability and changes

The Service is provided as is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, that processing will always succeed, or that any particular video can be processed — video platforms change, and some videos have no usable audio or are region locked.

Features can change or be removed. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan gives you, we will tell paying users by email before it takes effect.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the Service, or puts it or other users at risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. If we close a paid account for a breach, we do not refund the remaining period.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, or lost data. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify signed-in users at least 15 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new version.
